layers 02 - Iris Lehnhardt

A pale grey-green block is brushed onto the white sheet, and over it a deep plum rectangle is dragged down in a single wide pass, the colour thinning at the edges so the green shows through. A darker mark closes the top of the plum shape and another the bottom.

Hand pulled monotype, the second colour printed over the first so the layers stay visible. Iris Lehnhardt is a German visual artist who works in abstract painting, monoprint and collage, looking for a balance between minimal detail and layered colour. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
