botanical reminiscences 5 - Iris Lehnhardt

Flower heads and small round leaves print in cream across a deep wine ground, some with four clear petals, others massed into a cluster at the top. The forms are solid and flat, and faint stems show where the plate caught only a little ink.

Hand pulled monotype, the plants laid on the plate so they print as pale shapes out of the dark ground. Iris Lehnhardt is a German visual artist who works in abstract painting, monoprint and collage, looking for a balance between minimal detail and layered colour. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
