Born in 1976, Adrian DeDea is a German contemporary artist based in Düsseldorf, Germany. He graduated from the painting program at the Academy of Art in Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania, during a period of transition in Eastern European art, when academic figurative training was meeting new forms of artistic evolution. DeDea identifies himself as a figurative painter, yet his practice does not aim to reproduce ordinary reality. Instead, he works through deconstruction: the figurative element remains present, but it is opened to stylization, abstraction and dynamic pictorial tension. His paintings often develop around a strong central image, staged with direct visual impact. For him, the artwork must first create immediate communication with the viewer; only afterwards do its details, contradictions and deeper layers begin to emerge.
